Oh, be fair you lot!I think that although the title does not, perhaps ,fit the thread;they're still damning themselves from their own mouths.I have been told very sharply that the ones who left the org after 1975 were weak and adulterous as they sought a date and wore out ,blah, blah, blah and that the society NEVER predicted the end near 1975 etc.I can certainly use these quotes at my door if they dare to call on me again.Nice one Newboy!

ORGANIZATION ADMITS TO A FALSE PROPHESY!
by new boy in"are we to assume from this study that the battle of armageddon will be all over by the autumn of 1975, and the long-looked-for thousand-year reign of christ will begin by then?
possibly...it may involve only a differrnce of weeks or months, not years.".

Telling a JW that you are anti-watchtower.
by jerome inthe time has finally come.
i am getting dangerously close to a situation where i will have to reveal to my gf's mother and siblings that not only do i not share their beliefs but the probility of them converting me to their religion is next to none.
relaying this information could cause one hell of alot of problems with the situation as it satnds.. in my country which is mainly christian the the jws eventhough not accepted are permitted to continue with their faith.

Jerome;hi, you could just do your research 'backwards' as it were.Find the issue(ie-the un thing)Find a non-jw source (ie-newspaper)research it on un web site- offer info as your reason for getting the hell out of there. You only need one issue(blood,un,fds not inspired ,child abuse etc)or it gets too complicated... and just say because of THIS your christian concience cannot allow you to associate with the religion any longer...be firm and sound completely resolved and disgusted and VOILA! you're out without slandering them personally and with your self esteem intact; you don't want to get all emotional and cause a ranting, embarassing scene! xx

Heavenly or earthly hope in "Hebrews"?
by Justin inofficial jw doctrine is that the pre-christian servants of god had an earthly hope.
but, according to hebrews 11:16 (kjv), "they desire a better country, that is, an heavenly; wherefore god is not ashamed to be called their god: for he hath prepared for them a city.
" the nwt, alone of all translations as far as i can tell, translates this as "a better [place], that is, one belonging to heaven.

JW's IGNORE THIS SCRIPTURE
by picosito inlu 21: 7,8. then they questioned him saying: "teacher, when will these things actually be, and what will be the sign when these things are destined to occur?
" he said: "look out that you are not misled, for many will come on the basis of my name, saying, 'i am he,' and, 'the due time has approached.
" (caps mine.).

Update on AlanF's Daughter
by AlanF innow that dad has recovered his equilibrium, i just wanted to say a huge thanks to everyone who expressed concern about my daughter the last couple of weeks.
in the great scheme of things this is a minor matter but it sure affected me!
i guess my family has been pretty lucky compared to others.. anyway, julie (that's the daughter one, not the wifely one) recovered so fast that she returned to school this past monday.

"Look at the Fruits" Says the Watchtower
by stevieb1 inwe know how much in the way of doctrine is scripturally deficient in the watchtower organization, but they will always come back and say something on the following lines:.
* look at the fruit of our works.
millions are coming to an accurate knowledge about jehovah who would never get to know him where it not for our preaching activities carried out worldwide.

Yerusalim;good points, but when ever I brought up this point they'd say... 'where are the hospitals Jesus built? The aids centres, the soup kitchens and charities for the homeless? He came to preach not to set up charities...AAAAGGGHHHHHHHH!!!!!

Let me give you my story....
by nita6368 inhi there everyone, i have posted a few times but after reading some life stories i decided to put mine on here in a condensed version.i don't know about anyone else but it helps me to read other peoples life stories, kind of validates that "hey, i'm not crazy, it was the org.
that was so warped.
" ok, here goes...i was raised catholic-12 years of parochial school and all only to find myself pregnant at 18 and being told by the monseniour(higher-up priest, really old guy)that it would be bettter for my child to be born a bastard(exact word used) than for me to marry the unbelieving father-he was a baptist.

Hello Nita!Good to have you here! What a great idea, to get councelling for your kids, does the ex object?Takes the negatives of the jw situation away from you,and places them in a 'public' setting.
I had similar feelings re the saying 'no' thing.I do'nt know if it's a concious decision; but they manage to make you feel you're not just rejecting the issue/doctrine etc; but them as a person. It took a long time to resolve that particular issues so I could see the situation clearly and feel I could tell them each and everything I rejected without feeling bad about myself. But boy do they know now !!!
